Community and Content: Smirk’s Own Ryan Bratton
Howdy, I’m Ryan! It’s my pleasure to work at Smirk as one of our Digital Content Specialists. My day-to-day work focuses on community and reputation management along with copywriting for our clients.
Climbing the Digital Staircase
I was born and raised in Oklahoma during the birth of Net 2.0. My career in customer service and quality assurance has been shaped in no small part by Midwestern congeniality and technical resourcefulness — core concepts that illustrate work I see as most honest, forward-thinking and valuable.
Sweating It Out
I was in the workforce from an early age, running copper and installing furnaces for a family business that gave me my first taste of customer interactions. In the following years, I rose to a leadership position at a student loan servicer, acting as a team leader, technical writer and quality assurance and process administrator. Through this period I also began a career as a freelance copywriter.
Sustainable, Pro-Human Copywriting
My work in Smirk’s process helps create the kind of content I want to see in the world, and I can’t think of a greater satisfaction than that! What we read can be valuable on so many levels, and the copywriter Shigesato Itoi is a personal touchstone on the power of written copy.
My teammates embrace these concepts with modern practice and optimization. The content we make creates conversations, and our client results prove it. It’s my aim to continue growing my understanding of digital marketing, explore new concepts and define the future of our industry alongside this team.
The Smirk Difference
Meeting challenges — especially those we see in Active Response — with empathy relies on having heartfelt transparency, a steadfast strategy and a like-minded team. I’m deeply grateful to have seen all three of these principles embodied in every Smirker. Joining their ranks has given me an unparalleled opportunity to work with world-class individuals who live these values each day. It’s enough to give me goosebumps!
In addition to the professional opportunity, I deeply value Smirk’s dedication to the local community and industry growth. You can find us coworking at Parlor OKC as often as we’re attending remote webinars on emerging trends.
Hobbies, Habits and the Future
I love to stay busy — I’m a musician, artist and fiction writer in my spare time, and I hardly ever struggle to fill up my spare time with projects. My idea of really turning it up is visiting The Mule, maybe a thrift store and then tinkering with old software for an afternoon (if you need help with your copy of WordPerfect, hit me up.) I also have a tiny old dog named Tony Hawk.
I feel very fortunate to get the opportunity to join the Smirk team and I can’t wait to see where it takes me! If you’d like to connect or chat, send me a message on LinkedIn!
