Get to Know Casey, Smirk’s Newest Digital Strategist

I’m Casey, also known by my team as the new girl in town. I’m the latest addition to the growing Smirk crew and I couldn’t be more excited to join such an outstanding team. I’ll work with our clients as a Digital Strategist and project manager. Here’s my story.

Where I Started, How I Got Here

I chose to pursue a career in marketing because it combines my love of problem-solving, writing and working with people in an industry that values creativity and innovation. From my first class in college to my internship and fellowship assignments to my career, I’ve found opportunities to utilize my innate abilities, strengths and passions to pursue and achieve my goals strategically.

Growing Up Online

My natural interests coincided with the emergence of social media and the growth of digital marketing. I grew up on social media, natively learning the pros and cons of a world where information is instantly available for sharing, engaging and misunderstanding. I also learned to change and adapt as different platforms emerged and attracted different audiences.

I’m passionate about studying human connection in the digital realm. In an age where our timelines are flooded with spam, sparking meaningful conversation is more important than ever. Digital marketing lets me get creative in discovering new ways to connect brands with their audience.

Joining the Smirk Team

I researched Smirk before I came on board. I wanted to know what Smirk valued most and what they stood for as a company — two extremely important factors to me when searching for career opportunities.

I was instantly drawn to the Smirk Difference, which is our mission to go above and beyond other agencies and redefine client service for the better. This not only means being honest and transparent but also building a trusting relationship with clients by showing that we’re there for them and fighting for their success.

Working with clients is the best because I get to help them define success and give them the roadmap to achieve it. I do my best to ensure my clients feel like they have a partner in the project and that we’re in this together. I become their No.1 fan and advocate for their success. Seeing their excitement as the project comes to life is the most rewarding part of my work.

Voices and Values

I’m a firm believer that everyone has a talent, and it takes various talents to build a strong team. Within my first two weeks, it became clear that Smirk shares these values. Our company culture is centered around GiANT’s 5 Voices System, a practice that welcomes and cultivates diverse perspectives and personalities.

Through previous work experiences, I’ve found that some of the most valuable traits I bring to the table include being a supportive and motivating team player, a creative thinker and a strong communicator. I can’t wait to use my strengths in this role while learning from and growing with the incredibly talented people at Smirk.

What Makes Me Smirk

I grew up just outside of Tulsa, OK in a town called Owasso. I’m the baby of my family, which of course means I’m also the funny one. I’ve been a self-proclaimed artist since age 4, taking first place in a coloring contest hosted by my local video rental shop (R.I.P. Blockbuster). I especially love painting and how it allows me to express myself in a way that words sometimes can’t. Traveling is another big passion of mine. I love the sense of adventure in exploring new places. I’ll always jump at any chance to travel.

My experiences helped shape me into the person I am today, a person I’m proud to be. However, the pieces that make my puzzle complete are my two pups, Marshall and Rosie. My dogs are always the best part of my day. Their silly personalities remind me that things don’t always have to be so serious and it’s fun to be goofy sometimes.

As I embark on this journey with Smirk, I hope to continue developing my skills, passions and experiences while remembering to have fun in the process!
