Hammerstone Construction Group
Brand Identity, Branding, Design and Photography
Smirk was tasked with developing an original brand identity for a construction subsidiary of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Business Development Corporation. The construction group serves the Tribal communities and the wider state of Oklahoma. Our goal was to communicate a strong reputation and reliable craftsmanship with an homage to historical tools that have long-standing cultural significance. This was the third naming and branding project Smirk completed with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes.
Brand Naming & Visual Identity Development
Like all projects, Smirk approached the naming and branding of this entity with extensive data-driven research. We generated hundreds of names and completed a thorough internal review process to solidify the strongest options. Smirk organized external focus groups to gather valuable data for the client on the finalists. “Hammerstone Construction Group” was selected as the new brand’s name. As a well-known tool within Native communities across the continent, the hammerstone represents centuries of strength and skilled craftsmanship. Following the naming of the enterprise, a cohesive brand identity and story was developed.
